Arno A. Meincke, 79, of Walcott, died Monday, September 30, 2002, at Wilton Retirement Community, Wilton.

Visitation will be 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 2, at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. Memorials may be made to the Wilton Retirement Community and to the Durant Ambulance.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 3, at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. The Rev. Charles Mills will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Marian Henderson and vocalist Henry Bentley. Pallbearers are Joel Meincke, Ed Timm, Gary Wiese, Dean Stecher, Steve Urmie and John Caes. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Bachus, Duane Bachus, Dennis Stecher, Bruce Meincke, Freddie Wells, Brent Arp and Jeff Meincke. Burial will be at Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Arno Albert Meincke was born December 30, 1922, in Scott County, the son of Albert and Lula (LaMaack) Meincke. He married Janice Arlene Bachus on March 10, 1945, in Davenport. He farmed his entire life in Scott and Cedar counties, retiring in 1995. He later worked for Meincke Plumbing, Davenport. He was a member of the Walcott Community Club. He enjoyed playing sheephead.

He is survived by his wife, Janice; one daughter, Sandra Marti of Davenport; one son, Bryan (Cherie) Meincke of Boulder, CO; one granddaughter, Amy (Todd) Krenz of St. Louis, MO; one grandson, Kevin Marti of Davenport; one great-granddaughter, Miranda Krenz; one sister, Lasella Stecher of Durant; one brother, Robert (Delores) Meincke of Durant; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold Meincke.
