Charles (Chuck) Edward Moen Sr., 74, of 2100 S. 29th St., Grand Forks, formerly of Inkster, N.D., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at home surrounded by his family.
Chuck was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Emerado, N.D., the son of Oscar Sr. and Mary (Hulst) Moen. The family moved to Gilby, N.D., and he attended and graduated from Gilby High School. He married Marion Bagley on Dec. 28, 1951. They farmed near Gilby. Chuck served in the Army 535th Engineering company from 1954 to 1956 and was stationed in Germany. After returning home, he worked with Forester Construction Co. of Manvel, N.D., for several years. The family moved to Inkster in 1974 and he then worked for Valley Grain in Honeyford, N.D., and Farmer's Elevator in Honeyford until he retired in 1990. In 1997, Chuck and Marion moved to Grand Forks. He was a member of Grand Forks American Legion Post No. 6 and Mendenhall Presbyterian Church in East Grand Forks. Chuck, or "Pops," as he was affectionately called by many, enjoyed gardening, reading, coin collecting, UND Sioux basketball, and most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and attending as many of their activities as he could.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Marion, 2 sons, a daughter, 3 brothers, 5 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marian; and a brother, Richard.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, Mendenhall Presbyterian Church, 528 10th St. N.W., East Grand Forks.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks.
Interment: Prairie Home Cemetery, Gilby.
