Mrs. C.F. Eurton Had Been In Business Here Over Thirty Years
Funeral services were held this morning at the First Methodist Church for Mrs. C.F. Eurton, well-known Moberly Milliner and business woman, who died at 1 o'clock New Years afternoon. The services were conducted by the Rev. J.P. Ingerslew, pastor of the church, and Dr. Allen Duncan, pastor of the Coates Street Presbyterian Church.
Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Pall bearers were W.S. Geisel, Clarence McAdams, Slevin Winn, Frank Bell, Eugene Pennock and E.C. Mittler.
Mrs. Eurton became ill two months ago and was removed from her home to Woodland Hospital November 11, when her condition first became critical.
For more than 30 years she was a resident and business woman in the 500 block of Reed Street. Her first store was a millinery shop, which she opened in the days when women's hats were largely made and trimmed in the places where they were sold at retail. Mrs. Eurton learned the trade of "maker" and "trimmer" in the large cities of the Midwest before opening her store here.
About 20 years ago she bought the Emporium Store, where she continued to sell millinery and women's wear up until the time of her illness and death.
Mrs. Eurton was the daughter of the late John Henry and Katherine Gerken, well known farm residents, who long resided east of Moberly.
She is survived by her son, Chester A. Bradley; two sisters, Mrs. J.B. McAdams, Moberly and Mrs. Chas. Strube, Menomonee Falls, Wis.: a brother, William H. Gerken of near Huntsville; two grandchildren, Janis and Chester A. Bradley, Jr.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Eurton was a member of the First Methodist Church and of several fraternal groups, including the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Ladies Auxillary of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, Royal Neighbors, S.B.A. and W.B.A. The heirs of Mrs. Eurton are expected to offer the Emporium Store for sale.
