John Roy (J.R.) Wilson, Jr., peacefully left this life on December 23, 2003 having entered it in Okmulgee, OK on October 4, 1918, - the firstborn of John Roy, Sr., and Lora Rader Wilson. J.R. was a man who deeply enjoyed his multitude of friends, all of whom delighted in his stories, gifts and jokes. The light and joy of his life, Norma Waldo Wilson, parted from him for a short while on June 21, 2001 after almost 50 years of marriage. His life with her and their five children and eight grandchildren was one full of lively conversation and laughter together over thousands of feet of eight millimeter home movies and unending tales of life. He had a varied career, mostly centered around the oil industry. It began with 'rough necking' in the oilfields of Oklahoma and Texas and also included the position of Purchasing Director with both the Sohio Petroleum Company and the State of Oklahoma. The work years before retirement were enjoyably spent in his own oilfield equipment company, Wilson and Sons. He was the proud father of two sons, John Peter and Patrick Rader Wilson, as a result of his 1939 marriage to Betty Sinopoulo. Norma and her daughter, Terri, joined his life in 1952. They later joyfully welcomed son, John Roy III (Jay) and daughter, Sally Christina into the fold. As the years continued, he also delighted in embracing John Peter's daughter, Christine, Pat's wife, Olga from the Ukraine, Terri's husband, Pat Hunt and their children Amy and Steve, Jay's wife Kim and children Shauna, Erin, Shelby and Shawn, and Sally's husband Jerry Stokes and their sons Christopher and Austin. J.R. also had a lovely friend in the last year of his life, Ms. Chizu Knesby. She added much joy to him and to the entire family. Also remaining behind is his sister, Barbara Wilson Ditto. He was predeceased by his brother, Patrick Henry Wilson and his sisters Beverly Wilson Wright and Ann Wilson Crowell Farris. The Lord Jesus Christ died for him and we believe he accepted that gift and is with him and the rest of his loved ones who did the same. J.R.'s life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Monday, December 29, 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church under the direction of Vondel Smith North. We hope all who enjoyed and loved J.R. Wilson will join his family at that time.
