James ‘Jiggs' Christopher Abernathy, 70, of Cleveland.
Mr. Abernathy passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Autumn
Breeze Nursing Home in Marietta following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011,
at the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave
Fortner officiating. Burial will follow at Chattahoochee United
Methodist Church Cemetery.
Born in White County on Oct. 4, 1940, he was the son of the late
Ned Abernathy and Carrie Addis Abernathy.
Mr. Abernathy was a lifelong resident of White County, a member
of Union Baptist Church and had worked in the textile industry at
Riegel and Mt. Vernon Mills.
Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Sidney and Ovaline
Abernathy of Calhoun; his sister and brother-in-law, Sybil and
Morris Biggers of Cleveland; and sisters-in-law, Mamie Abernathy of Clarkesville and Elizabeth Abernathy of Cleveland.
The family will receive friends at Alexander Funeral Home, 2721
Highway 129 South, Cleveland, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 15.
Flowers will be acknowledged, or memorials may be made to Chattahoochee
United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Harold McCay, 329
