During the Dakota War of 1862, Albert Brooks drove a team for supplies to Sissieton, S.D. He built a house on part of the old Allen Grave place, now Mrs. James Peterson's. Albert and his father farmed near Princeton, Minn. for many years. He was the local animal doctor around Stubbs Bay for many years.
The Brooks family burial plot is in Union Cemetery overlooking Long Lake, Minn., where Albert and Ruth, Agnes and Tacy, and Oscar and Julia were all buried.
