Dr Donald Denson, age 67, of Lilburn, Ga. went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov 18, 2012.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Jeannine Overholser Denson. He is also survived by his son Chad Denson, Birmingham, Ala; son Todd Denson and fiancé, Kayla Jeffries, Lilburn, Ga; and son Zachary and wife, Grace Denson of Leesburg, Fla. Don is also survived by his sister Sherie and his brother-in-law Glen Ottley.
Nieces and nephews include Eric Brown and fiancé Toni Sims of Atlanta, Ga; and Lori Goddard and her husband Jeremy of Marietta, Ga.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Derby Denson.
Don served four years in the Air Force in the 1960s and never lost his love for flying as he piloted his own small plane for many years.
Dr Denson began his medical career at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif, continuing to the University of Cincinnati School Of Medicine, where he remained for 14 years. In 1990, he moved to Atlanta with his family, to pursue a career at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr Denson retired from the Anesthesia Dept of Emory University in Aug 2011 where he was a clinical pharmacologist and an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology. His tireless research efforts in the alleviation of pain were the focus of most of his academic life.
Don will always be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and brother. The world has lost a great man where great men are hard to come by.
Visitation and arrangements have been made for Monday, Nov 26, from noon to 2 pm, followed by a "Celebration of Life" ceremony at 2 pm at Tom M Wages Snellville Chapel, 3705 Hwy 78W, Snellville, GA. 30039. His final resting place will be in Urbana, Ohio, at Oak Dale Cemetery on Wednesday, Nov 28, 2012, at 10 am.
