Called "Rusty" and "Rusty Kid" by family members and friends in Hartshorne and Haileyville, Oklahoma due to the slight reddish tint in his hair, (source cousins Jewel Hamblin and Hawk Ervin).

Son of Frank Houston Hamblin and Effie Allena Tucker. Claimed his heritage as Indian and Black Dutch (Black Forrest of Germany, (source Hawk Ervin).

Father to three sons, Ulos Junior Hamblin, Kit Edward and Keith Alan. His mother Effie gave him the name Ulos, but he never liked the name and preferred to be called Frank instead. Wife Dorothy always called him Frank. California death certificate shows two first names (Ulos and Frank) and two middle names (Frank and Ulos).

Enumerated in the 1910 US Census in Haileyville Ward 4, Pittsburg, Oklahoma.

Enumerated in the 1920 US Census in Dow, Pittsburg, Oklahoma.

Enumerated twice in the 1930 US Census, first in Dow, Pittsburg, Oklahoma and later that same year in Riverside, Riverside, California.

Married Dorothy Patricia Schmid, 4 Dec 1938 in Reno, Nevada. Remained married to her until his death.

Enumerated in the 1940 US Census in Oakland, Alameda, California.

The National Archives provided his WWII draft registration on October 16, 1940, with annual updates. It was previously thought that he did not register due to his status of being the sole son in a family.

Resided in Santa Rosa and Fort Bragg, California and hunted and fished in Fall River Mills, California.

Being sponsored by Charley Bookout (former employer) he was given $500.00 (during the Depression) to leave Hartshorne. He drove to California in a Model T Ford with cousin Red Tucker, (source Hawk Ervin and other Tucker first cousins).

Mrs. Verna Magruder (former employer at Liberty Market and Grocery in McAlester) gave him a start in the construction business and he built motels. He built the Hamblin Motor Lodge on the north end of Fort Bragg, California which is now called the Oceanside Motel. Each unit had a motel room and a car port.

He was known to ride the train during frequent returns to Hartshorne, Oklahoma until his mother moved to Littlefield, Texas and his marrying Dorothy. He enjoyed fishing according to cousin Hoop Logan.

Rusty loved the ocean, he also loved Abalone. He has been described by relatives as gentle, loving, respectful, sensitive, and quiet for the most part.

Brother-in-law George Spears stated that he was an architect at times and that he built motels. Also owned motels.

Upon meeting his son Ulos Junior at sister Daisy's funeral, what began as a pleasant visit wound up in altercation. It was the only time they ever met as adults. He had not seen his son since the boy was age two. They never spoke to each other again.

Cremated after death with ashes spread in Pacific Ocean.
