Victor D. Borst III, 78, of Princeton, formerly of Flossmoor, Ill., died Friday, April 1, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Beatrice and loving father of Victor and Bradley. Mr. Borst was born on July 23, 1932, in Ithaca, N.Y., and was raised in Forest Hills, N.Y. He was a student of the Taft School, Cornell University and the University of Vermont, where he met Beatrice Bombard. They were married Sept. 28, 1957. Victor later received a master's degree in education and taught mathematics while coaching girls' tennis at Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor until he retired. His abilities as an educator were not limited to the high school classroom. Mr. Borst also taught flight school to the cadets of the Civil Air Patrol, where he was a pilot and held the rank of captain for this U.S.A.F. Auxiliary. Victor's interest in aviation was paralleled by an avid interest in astronomy and photography. He was also an active member of his church, the Open Prairie United Church of Christ.
