She was the daughter of Manzer and Nancy Elizabeth (Oldham) Ellis and married Hosea Emmett Towry - 15 Sep 1888 - Bedford Co., Tennessee. Her death certificate states she was born August 16, 1866; her tombstone states she was born August 16, 1866...died at age 84. Her obituary follows:

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Fayetteville Church of Christ for Mrs. Josephine Ellis Towry, 84, by I. C. Pullias, O. S. Lanham, and R. A. Largen. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery.

Mrs. Towry died Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. O. McKinney, on East College Street, after a long illness.

Wife of the late H. E. Towry, she was a daughter of the late Manzer and Nancy Oldham Ellis. She was born and reared in Lincoln County and was a member of the Church of Christ.

In addition to her daughter, Mrs. McKinney, she is survived by one son, Ellis Towry, and five grandchildren.
