Golden Wedding Celebrated
Among the outstanding social events calendered for June was the "open house" celebration
of the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Stanforth at their attractive home in
New Vienna, Sunday, June 29.
Guests were met at the door by Leo and Charles Stanforth, grandsons of the couple.
Congratulations were received by Mr. and Mrs. Stanforth who were seated in front of the
fireplace in their living room. On the mantle were summer flowers in pretty vases and yellow
tapers in silver holders lighted the room. Scattered throughout the home were lovely June
blossoms, gifts of friends of the couple.
The guests were served iced tea and cookies from an attractive lace-covered table, centered
with beautiful flowers in a silver bowl, flanked by yellow candles in silver holders. Misses
Mabel Stanforth, Ruby Caley and Virginia Hedrick served the guests.
The guests lingered to enjoy a social hour with Mr. and Mrs. Stanforth, who have a multitude of
friends. They were remembered with many lovely cards and gifts, and Miss Addie Johnson
presented Mrs. Stanforth with a corsage made of flowers from her own garden.
Miss Stanforth and Robert Stanforth sang "I've Anchored My Soul" and Mr. and Mrs. Hamer
Humphreys sang the following numbers, "In A Little Spanish Town," "God Will Take Care of
You", and "Silver Threads Among The Gold", for the pleasure of the guests.

Stanforths Celebrate 60th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Stanforth of New Vienna, whose 60th wedding anniversary occurs today,celebrated the occasion Sunday with a party attended only by the immediate families.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanforth were married July 1, 1897 at a residence in Hillsboro by the Rev. Klise.
They went to housekeeping in Highland County where they lived 24 years. They then moved to Clinton County and have resided in New Vienna the past 13 years. Mr. Stanforth farmed his entire life.
A three-tiered wedding cake was served with other refreshments during the afternoon when the couple received gifts and enjoyed talking with their guests.

65th Wedding Anniversary Will Be Sunday
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stanforth will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary July 1. They were married, both at age 20, in Highland County and moved to Clinton County in 1918. Mr. Stanforth will celebrate his 85th birthday June 28.
Family and friends will be calling and sending cards to the couple. Mrs. Stanforth has been confined to bed since October, when she suffered a stroke.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanforth have lived in the New Vienna community since moving here from Highland and have lived in the village since 1944. Mr. Stanforth is a retired farmer. After retiring as a farmer,
Mr. Stanforth worked in a New Vienna grocery store and retired again, this time at age 75.
Mr. Robert A. Stanforth, Wilmington, is the only living son and a daughter, Mrs. Fred Hedrick, lives
in Hillsboro. There are six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Charles A. Stanforth, 91, father of Robert Stanforth of 620 Bernice St., Wilmington, Ohio
doed Sunday at 11:15 P.M. at the son's residence. Mr. Stanforth had lived with his son
for the past five years. On July 1, 1897 he was married to the former Clara Mae Johnson,who preceded him in death.
He was born Jan. 28 1877 in Highland County, the son of Robert A. and Lydia Stanforth.
He was a member of the New Vienna Church of Christ.
Others surviving in addition to the son, Robert, are a daughter, Mrs. Verda Hedrick of Hillsboro, two brothers, Willard of Kings Mills, Orville of Hillsboro, six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted by Dr. Paul Jones of the Hillsboro Church of Christ and the Rev. Donald Thomas, New Vienna Wednesday at the New Vienna Church of Christ for Charles A.
Stanforth, who died Sunday. Smith funeral home, New Vienna, was in charge.
Mrs. Meredith Michael was organist. Mrs. Robert Johnson and Mrs. David Allen sang, "Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond The Sunset".
Pallbearers were the Rev. Arthur Merkle, Harry Ludwick, Dwight Hedrick, Carl, Charles and Leo Stanforth. Burial was in the New Vienna IOOF Cemetery.
