"The many friends of Mrs. Harriet A. Davenport were shocked to hear of her death on Sunday, November 7th, following a brief illness at her home at Oaksville. She was a noble woman, possessed of may beautiful traits, always giving so generously of her time and strength in the home and in the community where she was loved so much. Truly her life has been a benediction. The funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday by her pastor, the Rev. Charles Kramer of Cooperstown. Burial at Schuyler Lake. Harriet A. Davenport was born in Milford, Feb. 10, 1849, the great granddaughter of two Revolutionary soldiers, Ezekiel Seeger of Sheffield, Mass., who served from April 19th, 1775 until October 19th, 1777, and James Westcott of Cheshire, Mass., whose term of enlistment extended from June 1778 to 1781. Both of these pioneers settled in Milford prior to 1796. She was the daughter of William and Pamela Westcott Seeger. In 1868 Harriet A. Seeger was united in marriage to Lucius Putman Davenport of Exeter. After residing in Morris for a few years they moved to their farm in Exeter, where they lived until the death of Mr. Davenport in November, 1898. A son and two daughters survive, Willard Davenport of Ilion, Jesse Davenport of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Grace D. Roberts of Oaksville. There are three grandchildren, Harriet Elizabeth, and Grace Louise of Ilion, and Homer D. Roberts of Oaksville. Mrs. Davenport is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Thomas P. Gans of Milford, Mrs. S. A. Beemer of Tacoma, Washington, and Mrs. Ann Seeger Chase of Thermopolis, Wyoming ..." ["The Otsego Farmer & Republican" (Cooperstown, NY), Nov. 19, 1920, p. 7]
