Fern Ryan rites at Minot

Fern Luella Ryan, 69, Balfour, and formerly of Minot, died Friday in a Minot hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday, Dec. 28th at 10:30 a.m., at the Assembly Of God Church, Minot. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, in the spring.

The former Fern Nelson was born on January 4, 1914, at Kenmare, a daughter of the late Fred W. and Mae L. Nelson. She was reared and educated at Niobe, and married Percy Ryan on June 4, 1938 in Minot. They farmed in the Mohall area, and lived at Kenmare until coming to Minot in 1953. She was employed as a nursing assistant for 17 years at Trinity Medical Center in Minot, until retiring in i978. He died in 1976. She has lived in Balfour since 1978. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Minot.

Surviving are two sons, David of Glendive, Mont., and Dennis of Tacoma,
Wash.; three daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Betty) Means of Freeport, Tex., Mrs. Marvin (Iliene) Huwe of Graham, Wash., and Mrs. Neil (Fern) Westergard of Balfour; 20 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; brothers Perry Nelson of Seattle, Wash., and Fred Nelson of Bozeman, Mont.; sisters, Mrs. Dave (Blanche) Julson of LaSierra, Calif., Mrs. Alvin (Minnie) Evanger of Mohall, Mrs. Doug (Lillian) Roberts of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Helen Lord of Auburn, Wash.
