"Sharon Jean Courtney graduated to her heavenly home peacefully in her home with family at her side on November 22, 2012. Mrs. Courtney has courageously and transparently battled cancer since 2004, accepting this last chapter of her life with the grace and dignity that not only was a source of strength and comfort to her family, but to hundreds of friends all over the world via the Internet. She was a shining testimony of the peace that passes understanding.

Sharon was born in Abilene, TX on November 19, 1937 to Ezelle and Imogene Darby and she was their only child.

Sharon was saved at Trinity Baptist Church in Abilene, TX under the ministry of Howard Ingram on March 18, 1962. As a result of her testimony her husband came to accept Christ on Mother's Day the following year.

Her life has been marked by accomplishments that never ceased to amaze:
• She was a gifted artist and used her skills with paint, pen & ink, crafts and many more to serve the Lord.
• She learned to create stained glass art, and to work with pottery.
• She learned to play the piano and was a gifted seamstress; even making most of the clothes for her children in the early days of their ministry and later suits for her husband.
• As well, she was a gifted writer and had several articles published in the Baptist Bible Tribune."
