PENNSBORO - Amy Erma Richards, 89, of Parkersburg, formerly of Bear Run, Ritchie County, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, in Parkersburg.

She was born March 9, 1913, on Painter Run, near Glendale, Ritchie County, a daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Arminta Scott Johnson. Mrs. Richards was a homemaker and a devout Christian, belonging to the Worldwide Church of God. She made the difference in the lives of all her children, leading by example and never wavering from her faith. Mrs. Richards had attended the former Painter Run School.

She is survived by four daughters, Leora Reitterer of Mooreville, N.C., Annabelle Flanagan of Parkersburg, Betty Bee of West Union; and Erma Spears of Ellenboro; four sons, Ray Richards of Severna Park, Md., Harry Richards of Glen Burnie, Md., Bud Richards of Parkersburg, and John Richards of Cairo; one brother, Robert Glen Johnson of Benwood, W.Va.; one sister, Freda Phillips of Akron, Ohio; 28 grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married in 1934, Harry Ray Richards; one son, Jimmy George Richards; two brothers; and three sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, with the Pastor John Kopshina officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery near Glendale, Ritchie County. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, and after 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home
