John William Casey
John Casey, 62, former Evansville police chief and one time member of Rock County sheriffs staff, died last night in his home, 538 Milton Ave. He had been in failing health the past year. He joined the Evansville police department Dec. 23, 1947, became chief Dec. 1, 1951 and resigned in January, 1954. He had at one time been in security at Fairbanks Morse & Co., Beloit.
From 1954 until 1966 he operated Central Tavern in Footville. Born in Porter Township Feb. 27, 1904, he was the son of Dennis and Mary Ford Casey.
Surviving are three sisters, Mmes. M. F. Martin, Elmer Anderson and Robert Fessenden, all of Janesville; two brothers, Dennis, Janesville and Emmett, Edgerton.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Whitcomb Funeral Home and 10 o'clock in St. Mary's Church. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Edgerton. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow afternoon and evening the Rosary service to be at 8 o'clock.
