Steeds, NC - June 20, 1905: Mrs. Emma Coble Asbury, wife of Dr. F.E. Asbury of Asheboro, died at her home Sunday, the 18th. The funeral was held in Asheboro yesterday.

Mrs. Asbury was 56 years old, and was a model of perfect Christian womanhood.

She leaves a husband, five daughters and one son.

Funeral services were conducted by her pastor; Rev. Mr. Kilgore.

Notwithstanding the excessively warm day, the funeral was one of the most largely attended that has ever been witnessed in this section.

Mrs. Asbury was the former Miss Emma F. Coble, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Coble of Randolph County.

If there ever was a woman who was held in greater love and esteem - and most justly so - this was one, and this community has never witnessed a more perfect character of living Christianity.

The best part of it is that this was known and voiced before her death.
