ANNELLE FRAZIER BLAKEMORE
Age 80, died May 17, 1998, at 7:08 pm. at the Casa Real Health Care Center in Santa Fe. Her son, Paul, was at her side. Graveside services will be held on May 21 at 11 a.m., at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, Texas, and will be directed by Santa Fe Funeral Options.

Annelle's life began with her twin sister; Gaynelle, in Farmersville, Texas on February 27, 1918. Annelle and Gaynelle loved music and, as teenagers, had their own radio show on KGVL in Greenville, Texas. Annelle played the ukulele and piano, and Gaynelle played the guitar, and they sang in perfect harmony. In 1930, they performed between acts of traveling vaudeville shows.

On August 30, 1941, Annelle married William (Bill) Saunders Blakemore, jr., a jazz percussionist, in Los Angeles. Annelle's beauty attracted movie studios, and she was asked to audition to be a stand-in for actress Susan Hayward. But with the entry of the United States in to the war, Bill joined the Air Force, and he and Annelle left Los Angeles. Bill eventually served in the European Theater.

After the war, Annelle and Bill began their family in Odessa, Texas, in 1947, when daughter Sally wa born. Paul was born in Fort Worth, in 1954. Annelle raised her family and worked as a bookkeeper. She was a lifelong Baptist and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Annelle was proud of her Cherokee heritage and contributed generously to the Indian Relief Fund over the years. Before moving to Casa Real, she lived with her daughter in Santa Fe.

Annelle was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in 1983. She is survived by her twin sister, Gaynelle Lipscomb and brother-in-law, Miles Lipscomb of Greenville, Texas; her daughter and her son, Sally and Paul Blakemore; her grandsons: Addison and Lucien and granddaughter, Sally Rose; her son-in-law Rusty Storbeck; and Masa Ready Garza, who is like a grandson to her.
