Pat served in combat in World War II in the Signal Battalion Company, III Amphibious Corps of the United States Marine Corps, where he participated in the invasions of Guam and Okinawa.
As a student at Streator High School, he was a talented athlete earning varsity letters in football, basketball, and track and served as class President and participated in Boys State, Illinois. He obtained his bachelors degree from St. Ambrose College in Iowa and his law degree from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, after the war. Pat worked his entire career for Armour and Company, later Greyhound Corporation and ConAgra, as the Manager of Insurance and Casualty. He dedicated his life to his family and friends and was known for his loyal friendships, caring ways, and contagious sense of humor that touched so many lives. Pat dedicated countless hours to the juvenile welfare program in Chicago, Illinois, was a Little League coach, Boy Scout leader, and supported local education programs in Peoria by serving as a frequent speaker on his WWII experiences and delighting younger students as visiting leprechaun on St. Patrick's Day at local schools. He was a Third Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the American Legion, and the Elks Club. He was a father, grandfather and companion to everyone, living his life by the Marine Corp motto of "Semper Fi" always faithful to family, friends, and country.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church at 10:00 AM Friday, November 16, 2012, a rosary will be said immediately before mass.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Boys Town, Omaha, Nebraska or the U.S. Marine Corps "Toys for Tots" charities.

Patrick Langan remarried after his first wife died. His second wife was Patricia Mullen Langan. They lived in Phoenix Arizona during the 70s where Patrick continued to work for the Armour Meat company as an attorney. For several years in the early 80s he was transferred to San Francisco. Afterward, he and his wife. Patricia, returned to Arizona where they lived at 19603 N. 96th Street, Peoria, Arizona. Family referred to them as "Pat and Pat". Patricia died on 11 October 2002 and was buried in a family plot at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Avondale, Arizona where Patrick expected to be interred. His name is engraved on their headstone. However, when Patrick died on 9 November 2012 his family decided to bury him with his first wife in Streator, Illinois.
Patrick was indeed a fine man, a proud Irishman, and a dedicated, very dedicated, Notre Dame sports fan.
