HOUSTON – Dorothy "Dot" Gore Alford, 87, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born Sept. 23, 1925, in Houston to W.N. "Bud" Gore and Alice Mae Ferguson Gore. She was a retired homemaker and a member of New Hope Church of God.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Houston Funeral Home in Houston with the Rev. Greg Moss officiating. Burial will follow at Chickasaw Memorial Gardens in Houston. Houston Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughters, June and Ray Byars of Tupelo, Vickey and Steve Juengling of Daytona Beach, Fla.; her sons, Danny Alford of Houston, Billy and Sissy Alford of Houston, Jimmy and Amy Alford of Houston; her grandchildren, Neil Naron, Sherry Naron, Brent Byars, Chris Byars, Kevin Byars, Claire Wood, Amy O'Brien, Shelly Laios, Danyel Crowley, Jessica Alford, Joseph Alford, Sid Alford, Blake Alford, Caleb Alford, Brooke Alford, Brittany Alford and Jay Michael Alford; and her great-grandchildren, Jonah Naron, Kylie Byars, Jake Byars, Hayden Byars, Olivia Stone, Jacob Sullivan, Aiden Sullivan, Ben O'Brien, Dillon Cates, Madison Alford, Belle Moore, Greyson Moore and Ella Cate Alford. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Modis Alford; and her seven brothers and five sisters.
Pallbearers are Neil Naron, Brent Byars, Joseph Alford, Sid Alford, Blake Alford, Caleb Alford and Jay Michael Alford.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at Houston Funeral Home.
