John P. Byrnes, Veteran Engineer, Dies in Ogden
OGDEN, Aug. 16 – John P. Byrnes, 45 years of age, one of the oldest Southern Pacific engineers in Ogden, died suddenly at the Dee hospital last night of stomach trouble following an operation.
Mr. Byrnes was taken ill last Wednesday and removed to the hospital where he was operated upon Friday. His death followed late Sunday evening. The body was removed to the Larkin undertaking parlors pending the arrangements for the funeral.

The funeral of John P. Byrne, whose death occurred Sunday evening at Ogden, Utah, will be held from St. Patrick's church on Friday morning at 9 o'clock. Mr. Byrne was born in Omaha forty-five years ago and was an engineer on the Union Pacific, working in the yards at Ogden. He is survived by his father, James Byrne in this city, and by his wife and four children.
