His Douglas C-47A-DK (DC-3) went down near Pleuven, Brittany, having departed from Ireland. It was part of the 1st Troop Carrier Command, 433rd Troop Carrier Group. It had been chased by 2 Messerschmitt German fighters, crashing near a farm. Only (Crew Chief) Sgt. Cecil Earle Bell survived. 2nd. Lt. Lloyd C. Mahurin, 2Lt. Sidney H Jablowitz and Corporal Sam Kahn also died of injuries.

Received the Purple Heart
