Juneve "June" Babcock Scharer was born the daughter of Louise and Ralph Babcock and raised in Albany. In high school, she set a state record for the girl's mile run.
After graduation, June moved to Seattle and received her degree from Virginia Mason Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for many years as a pediatric nurse. A lifelong advocate for children, she volunteered in the schools her grandchildren and great-grandchildren attended, knitted hundreds of hats and mittens for Romanian orphanages, and made children's blankets for First Responders. Over many years, June also lovingly made 1,200 jointed "Snohomey" teddy bears that can be found in homes and schools worldwide.
She was preceded in death by son James Paul Scharer Jr.
She is survived by children Barbara, Robert and Catherine and their families, including four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, and brother Ralph LeRoy Babcock and his family of Albany.
