Hugh M. Addingon was educated in the public schools, studied law, by hard work and diligent research acquired a vocabulary of many thousand words far beyond that of average man. He has an extensive library. He has read the best authors of both prose and poetry of all ages. Reading has made him a full man; conversation a ready man; writing an exact man. He is a pleasing speaker, an orator of the first class. He is a good impromptu speaker as well as a prepared address speaker. He is much in demand as a speaker on many subjects, many occasions in many places. He receives many compliments
for his appropriate addresses.

He has filled various positions with credit to himself. U. S. Census Enumerator 1910, member of Scott County Jury Commission 1933; a member Intersocial Commission of Virginia and other states; Counsel and Advisor in American Genealogy; Member American Order of Pioneers; Contributor to Periodicals; with the Louisiana Purchase Exposition Office and Field Force, received commendations at the close from Pies- D. R. Francis; Fellow Institution of American Genealogy.

Books published: The World's Greatest Hero; McConnell Marriage Genealogies; History, Family of Addington In U. S. and Eng. Charles Kilgore of King's Mountain and Descendants; Blue Book of U. S. A. State and National Songs; sold out to noted institutions, libraries, colleges, universities; Importance of Each American State in U. S. A. 1947, forty-eight illustrations, the State Capitols.

Member of the History Committee Quillen Clan. Hugh M. Addington has been commissioned by ten Governors
of Virginia as Notary Public. He has in his forty years as Notary Public rendered valuable service in filling questionnaires for applicants, and dependants in World War I and II, and Korean war.

He writes wills, deeds, and legal documents. None have been
turned down by the Courts. He has been a great help to the
needy veterans. He taught school, assistant Postmaster, Cornville, Va., private clerk for his father for many years.

He married Mattie E. Smith, June 29, 1905. She was the daughter of Eliza McConnell by marriage to Lieut. T. M. Smith, 48th Va. Inf. under Col. John A. Campbell and 25th Va. Cal. under Col. Warren Hopkins.
