Funeral services for George Arends were held from the First Baptist church near George on
Saturday, May 25 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev J. Reimer the officiating pastor.
Interment was in the First Baptist cemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews John Arends , Raymond Arends, George Arends, Sweer Arends,
Henry Arends, and Herman Kramer.
George Arends son of Mr. and Mrs. John Arends was born in Leer, Germany on August 27,
1880. The John Arends family immigrated to the United States in 1888 and settled at Ashton. From Ashton they eventually moved to and settled in Little Rock.
In 1921 he and Miss Christina Johnson were united in marriage, and to this union four
daughters and two sons were born. One daughter passed away at the age of nine years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Christina Arends, of Little Rock, his daughters, Janette, Mrs. Charles McKinsey of Thorntown, Ind.; Alice, Mrs. Laverne Olson of Laurens, Iowa, Matilda, Mrs., Harold Fisher, Austin, Minn.; his two sons, Henry of Sioux Falls, S. D. and Anthony of Little Rock; and seventeen grandchildren, a number of nieces and
nephews.
Mr. Arends died Thursday morning, May 23, after a lingering illness, at the age of 82.
