She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Alexander B. Valz; five brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by one son, Alexander B. Valz Jr., his wife Suzanne, and one grandson, Brian A. Valz of Richmond, Virginia. She was a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Staunton, Virginia, and was an avid gardener and bridge player. She was employed for many years at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2012, at Thornrose Cemetery, 1041 West Beverly Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
