Tallahassee - Mark Ellis Williamson, 93, of Tallahassee, Florida passed away on Friday, November 16, 2012 at his home.
He was born October 10, 1919 to Oscar Clements Williamson and Nancy Perry Williamson in Dunnellon, Florida. He spent his childhood in Dunnellon and Ocala and graduated from Ocala High School in 1938. He went on to attend the University of Florida but his education was interrupted by World War II. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Mark made his career in banking and retired in 1979 as President of Florida National Bank of Ocala. He was involved in numerous civic organizations and was an Elder at First Christian Church.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Marjorie Evans Williamson; his daughter, Dr. Carol E. Williamson; and sister, Jane Knudegard. Survivors include his son, Craig and wife Tricia; nieces, Nancy Knudegard, Shannon Craig and Laurel Gardner; nephews, Kris Knudegard, Kelly Craig and Evan Gardner. He is also survived by his extended family, Kenneth and Margaret Lowery and Parker, Leah and Lucy Lowery.
Mark moved to Tallahassee ten years ago leaving the friendships he had forged over a lifetime to be near his children. The family would like to thank all the wonderful people who became his friends and made his life here so enjoyable.
There will be a private graveside service on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Rochester Cemetery in Rochester, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32340.
