Indian Wars Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served in the United States Army during the Wars with the Plains Indians as a Private in Company F, 5th United States Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at Whetstone Mountains, Arizona on July 13, 1872. His citation reads "Fought and defeated 4 hostile Apaches located between him and his comrades". His Medal was awared to him on December 4, 1874.
