ROBERT ELLIS BROWN SELF-EMPLOYED FARMER, LOGGING CONTRACTOR
Robert Ellis Brown, 75, of Greely Road, died Friday of cancer at his home.

He was born in Cumberland, a son of Leland S. and Gertrude Strout Brown. He attended Cumberland schools and Greely Institute.

For his entire life, Mr. Brown lived on his family property where he was self-employed as a dairy farmer and logging contractor.

According to his family, he had a strong sense of love, fairness and wisdom and a strong work ethic. They also remember him for his endearing sense of humor. His grandchildren would often have to study him closely or ask their parents to figure out if he was joking.

He received his greatest enjoyment while hunting and fishing with his grandchildren and, more recently, spending daily time with his great-grandson, Jordan. He also enjoyed growing a large garden with his wife and son, Kevin, then sharing it with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Irene Liberty Brown of Cumberland; two sons, Kenneth L. of Yarmouth and Ronald M. of Cumberland; a daughter, Karen M. Strattard of North Yarmouth; a brother, Stanford M. of North Yarmouth; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

There will be no visiting hours. A funeral Mas will be said at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church, Yarmouth. Private burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yarmouth. Arrangements are by Lindquist Funeral Home, Yarmouth.
