Services for the Rev. King Soloman Croney, 81, of 26-B Pennyrile Apartments, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Street Baptist Church with the Rev. C.E. Timberlake officiating and burial in Cave Spring Cemetery.

Visitation is in progress at the funeral home. Visitation with the family will be from 7 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He died unexpectedly early Christmas Day at his home.

A native of Trigg county, he was born Oct. 12, 1903, the son of the late Josh and Louella Coleman Croney. He was a retired farmer and a retired pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church and the Blooming Grove Baptist Church. He was a member of First Street Baptist Church where he served on the Missionary Society. He was a member of the Baptist Association.

His wife, Nellie Hopson Croney, died in 1962.

Survivors include a son, George Croney, Cadiz; a foster son, Douglas Hopson, Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Ira of San Francisco, Calif., and William Croney of Hopkinsville; six sisters, Emma Beck, Hephzibah, Ga., Mildred Mason, Bedford, Ind., Mattie Bowles and Helen Croney, both of Detroit, Mich., Pherdelia Waddell, Hopkinsville, and Julia Watkins, Evansville, Ind.
