August 9, 1922 – November 12, 2012

MISHAWAKA- Opal I. Russell, 90, of Mishawaka died at 10:50 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2012, at her home. She had been in failing health since April.
Opal was born on August 9, 1922 in South Bend to Floyd and Mazelle (Polley) Querry. She grew up in River Park of South Bend. Opal married Donald F. Russell on October 28, 1967, who preceded her in death, November 2, 2000. Opal is survived by: a sister Bernice Spencer of Sierra Vista, AZ, a brother: Donald (Fannie) Querry of Wheatland, WY, a sister in-law: Phyllis (Russell) Witmer of Union, MI; several nieces and nephews. Don's children, daughter's Lynn (Charles) Ward of Elkhart, Beth Ann (Jim) Lambert of Texas and a son Donald (Janice)Russell of Sturgis, MI; 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Miriam Jeanette, Betty Jane (stillborn), Shirley Ann Stacy and brothers; Charles Floyd, Willard Eugene (stillborn), Robert Dale and great-granddaughter Shelby Russell. Opal worked many years for Kroger as a cashier as well as at Benner's Grocery Store in River Park as a cashier for many years until she retired when she married Don. She was been a baptized member of Jehovah's Witnesses since July 15, 1950. Opal lived her faith. She would talk to anyone who would listen about the bible says about the Kingdom government that will rule from heaven on earth forever. She conducted many bible studies in her lifetime. Opal's wish was to be cremated and to be resurrected and live forever in the paradise earth. Following Opals wishes there will be no visitation and cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held on November 24th, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. At the Mishawaka North Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2431 Filbert Road, Mishawaka, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingdom Hall. Opal's family would like to thank Opal's niece Tonya and family friend Alberta (Bert) for being there for her since they couldn't be; also all of the sisters from the congregation for the around the clock loving care and friendship given to Opal, it was greatly appreciated. They would also like to thank Southern Care Hospice and Therapy One.
