Rachel Doris Staats, 94, a former longtime resident of Beaver, died Saturday morning, Feb. 28, 2004, at Friendship Ridge, Brighton Township, where she had been a resident since 1997, and previously at the King Beaver Apartments, Beaver.Born March 3, 1909, in Gay, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late George A. and Louisa Williams Knopp. She was a former employee of Curtiss-Wright, Beaver, and the Beaver Cash Market and was a member of the Beaver United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Raymond Staats on March 19, 1969, an infant daughter, Zelma Ruth Staats in 1926; a daughter, Elenora Webb, in April 2003; a great-grandson, David Webb; 11 brothers and four sisters. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Lois Arlene and Earl Preston, North Sewickley Township; a son and daughter-in-law, William A. and Blanche Staats, Beaver; a son-in-law, Harley Webb, Parkersburg, W. Va.; seven grandchildren; David, Kathy, Gary, Jim, Tom, Scott and Beth; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
