Darin King Singleton died Monday, November 12, 2012 on South Carolina Hwy 52 South, Greeleyville, SC as a result of an automobile accident. He was born February 8, 1984 in Manning, SC, a son of Deloris King Singleton and the late Tommy Edward Singleton.

Darin attended the public schools of Williamsburg County and graduated from C. E. Murray High School, Greeeleyville, SC in 2002 with honors. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science from South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, SC in 2007.

From an early age, he cherished and understood the importance of establishing and maintaining a strong relationship with Christ. Darin accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Greeleyville, SC in 2009. As an active member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, he participated in various programs and served faithfully as a member of the Trustee Ministry.

Darin was currently employed by the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, S.C. as a Program Director for Health Equity and Wellness. He worked closely with area schools, churches, businesses and medical communities to educate youths and adults regarding healthy lifestyle choices.

He was also employed by Williamsburg Technical College, Kingstree, SC as a Student Initiative Program Coordinator and tutor for several years.

As a student and scholarship recipient at South Carolina State University, Darin received many accolades and was honored on numerous occasions as a National Dean's List and Presidential Scholar recipient. He was also a member of the National Education Association, South Carolina Education Association, Asa Gordon History Club, National Black Graduate Student Association and served as a Student Orientation Leader.

Darin understood the importance of public engagement and as a result, he was heavily involved in the political process. Darin worked with various campaigns in Williamsburg County and pursued a seat on the local school board in 2010 at the young age of 26. He was particularly interested in opportunities available to the citizens of Williamsburg County. He frequently attended School Board Meetings, County Council Meetings, Democratic Party Meetings, etc. Darin was referred to by many as a "change agent" always showing concern for others while displaying a high level of political knowledge.

Darin was an excellent motivational speaker and served as guest speaker at numerous events throughout the state of South Carolina.

In March 2012, Darin was the keynote speaker at C. E. Murray High School's Ring Ceremony where he challenged high school seniors and stated, "Despite the challenges that you may face, it is important that you Walk By Faith and believe in yourself!"

Love ones who will cherish and treasure his memory forever are his mother, Deloris King Singleton of the home; four aunts, Lila Mae McCoy of Atlanta, Georgia; Letha July of Jersey City, New Jersey; Hattie Bell Keels of Greeleyville, South Carolina; Carrie Singleton of St. George, South Carolina; three Uncles, Franklin King of Walterboro, South Carolina; Lincoln King (Ernestine) of Sumter, South Carolina; Willie King of Sumter, South Carolina; and two great aunts Julia Anchrum of Denver, Colorado; Virgina Whack of Greeleyville, South Carolina; four great uncles, Richard Singleton of Greeleyville, South Carolina; Louis Singleton, Philadelphia, PA; Edisto Singleton of New York, New York; George Singleton of Charleston, South Carolina; and one very special friend, Dorshay Ancrunette Brown, along with many special relatives and friends.
