William A. Benedict died Friday night at his home at Glenmoore, Pennsylvania from burns received the previous Friday when his clothes caught fire while he was burning brush. He was the only son of Gabriel and Eliza Ann White Benedict, and was born in November 1854. He was the only son in a family of four a very early in his youth the conduct of a large farm fell upon his shoulders. What he conceived to be his duty, he never shirked and whatever ambitions he may have had gave way to that of being the mainstay of his parents and sisters. Twelve years ago he sold the homestead to the late John Chambers and with his only sister Alice, went to Glenmoore, Pennsylvania where his brother-in-law, Charles Frear resides. In early life he united with the church at Northfield and was ever a faithful and helpful member, for many years being an officer in the church. He could ever be depended upon to help in any enterprise that promised an uplift to the community. The body was brought to Walton and burial services were conducted by Rev. W. C. Davies, pastor of the Northfield Church, Tuesday afternoon. (Source: The Walton Reporter, April 14, 1917 issue, page 2)
