Benjamin Miller

Services for Benjamin Eugene Miller, 58, of 1410 W. Flamingo, Nampa, who died Sunday, May 8, at a Boise hospital of natural causes, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa, with Meridian Lodge 47, A.F.&A.M. officiating.

Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

He was born April 25, 1925, at Weatherford, Tex., to Wiliam and Virgie Miller. He was reared and educated in Shawnee, Okla., and Jay, Okla. In 1940, he moved to Pocatello. He entered the U.S. Navy on July 20, 1943 and served during WII. He was honorably discharged on April 22, 1946, and returned to Pocatello where he started his apprenticeship in sheet metal.

He married Julia A. Smart on Sept. 27, 1969, in Elko, Nev. He had worked for Rutledge Brothers Sheet Metal in Boise and later for Idaho Sheet Metal for many years. They lived in Burley, Alaska and Oregon and later moved to the Tri-Cities area in Washington.

He retired and moved to Nampa in October of 1982 and had resided in Nampa since. He was a member of the Baptist Church, Meridian Lodge 47 A.F.&A.M., the Loyal Order of Moose in Richland, Wash., and a member of Local 242 Sheet Metal Workers in Richland.

He is survived by his wife of Nampa, two daughters, Joyce Hochstetler, Nampa, and Patricia Burden, Bremerton, Wash.; two sons, Bruce Miller of Napa, Calif., and Clyde Miller of Middleton; four step-daughters, Betty King of Middleton, Pat Jenkins Cronk, Cheryl Sanderson and Kathy Holcomb, all of Nampa; two stepsons, Douglas Smart, Nampa, and Bill Goldsberry, Butte, Mont.; two brothers, Lonnie Miller, Boise, and William Miller, Eagle River, Alaska; and 17 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, James C. Miller.
