James Gray

James Edward Gray, 83, of Parkersburg died May 23, 2002, at his residence.

He was born in Little Hocking, Ohio, a son of the late James B. and Elma O. Eaton Gray. He was a 1936 graduate of Parkersburg High School, a World War II Navy veteran and served in many organizations throughout the years including Lions Club, Coastguard Auxillary, Blue Lodge, Ben Bey Grotto, Scottish Rite, Shriners and the Good Sam Club.

He retired from American Cynamid and the state of West Virginia.

He is survived by one daughter, JoAnn and her husband, Gary Taylor, of Parkersburg; two granddaughters and their husbands, Robin and Brian Nutter of Nashville, Tenn., and Niki and Brian Mathess of Washington, W.Va.; three great-grandchildren, Samantha, Brayden and Evan Mathess.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Conley Gray in 1995.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg. Graveside Masonic rites will be performed by Mt. Olivet Lodge 3. Burial will follow in Evergreen North Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday.

The family requests memorials be sent to the American Diabetes Association or the Shriners Hospital.
