Edna Rebecca Crabtree Williams was born in the Tennessee River Valley in Gunthersville, Alabama to Bertie Lee Barnard & Sexton C. Crabtree. She was less than 2 years old when the family moved back to their native Roane County, Tennessee. She started her career as a telephone operator in Rockwood, Tennessee in her early 20's and transfered to Atlanta, Georgia in 1947 where she remained for the rest of her life. She met and married Clyde Wilson "Bill" Williams around 1960 and moved to Doraville, GA in 1961. She retired as a project coordinator from Southern Bell in 1983. After her retirement she worked as a Crossing Guard for DeKalb County (,Georgia) schools for many years, guiding many school children to safety. Edna was a very active member in the Skyland United Methodist Church of Atlanta, Georgia.
