Sudden Summons to Mrs. Hillier
Almost without a moments warning death entered the house of Mr. and Mrs. Walter W. Hillier near Manchester and called the wife and mother. Although Mrs. Hillier had been suffering at times from heart trouble, during the last few days she had appeared to be in her usual good health. On Saturday she was in Manchester and on Sunday she enjoyed the compaionship of her neighbors and friends who had gathered at her home. At 2 o'clock on Monday morning the summons came. Susie E. Cook was born in Milo township Aug, 17, 1870, and had spent all of her years on the farm in Coffins Grove and Prairie townships, near Manchester. She was married to Walter Hillier July 2, 1902 and to them were born three children. Their first child passed away at the age of six months. The two sons remaining are Harry and Howard, aged 5 and 4, respectively. Mrs. Hillier is also survived by her aged father, Emery Cook, who has been making his home with his daughter and three brothers, Malcolm Cook of Independence; R.E. Cook near Winthrop and Edward Cook of Manchester. Funeral services will be from the family home on Wednesday afternoon and interment will be in Oakland cemetery at Manchester.
