Emet C Hart, aged 56 years, well known business-man of this city, died at his home on Fourth Ave on Sunday afternoon, August 25, 1940, following a long illness. Mr Hart was the son of the late John M & Maranda Hendricks Hart & was born near Pleasant Hill, this county, on Dec 29, 1883 He was united in marriage to Miss Agnes Rush of this county on Sept 24, 1911. Mr Hart was a member of the Falmouth Christian Church, having moved his membership from the Pleasant Hill Christian Church a few years ago.
Surviving besides his widow are three brothers, Calvin & John A Hart of Cincinnati & Walter Hart of this city & adopted daughter, Mrs Lamont Ravenscraft (Miss Thelma Kirk).
Mr Hart was one of the best known citizens of Pendleton Co & he made friends by his courteous manner & fair dealings. He moved to this city with his wife in 1925 & for a time was connected with the Booher Motor Co. Later he conducted a dry goods store in this city & at the time of his death, was distributor for Plymouth, Chrysler, & DeSoto motor cars. He was a man of fine habits & will be greatly missed by his immediate family & friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Pleasant Hill Christian Church, conducted by his pastor, the Rev W H Funderburk. Burial took place in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Funeral director J M Mason in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Howard & Frank Davis, Hilton Ellis, Elwood Fryer, Sam Atlender, & A T Sharer.
