Rollie F Hart, 64, former jailer of Pendleton Co for two terms, died Friday afternoon, Jan 8, 1937, at his home at Concord after a long, lingering illness.
Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Hill Christian Church, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by his friend, the Rev W M Lenox, assisted by the Rev Holderman. Interment took place at the Mt Auburn cemetery with funeral directors Thomas & Parramore in charge. Casket bearers were R M Fisher, R A Thompson, Clark Yelton, Earl Flaugher, Howard Davis, & W E Davis.
Mr Hart was born in the Concord neighborhood Sept 9, 1872, the son of the late John M & Maranda Kendricks Hart. He had bought & owned the farm where he lived & died, three different times. Mr Hart was married to Miss Matilda Sharp on Feb 27, 1897, & to this union four children were born. One died in infancy. His wife died July 5, 1929. On Jan 31, 1931, Mr Hart was married to Miss Jesse Cain. Besides his wife, Mr Hart is survived by his two daughters, Mrs Albert Plummer of Falmouth & Alice Hart of Cincinnati; a son, Robert Hart of Cincinnati; & two grandchildren, Ray & Floyd Lancaster. He is also survived by four brothers, Calvin L Hart, Walter Hart, & Emmet Hart, of this county, & John A Hart of Cincinnati. Five nephews, one niece, & many other relatives & friends also survive.
Mr Hart was elected jailer of Pendleton Co by one of the largest votes ever given a candidate. He understood practical politics & did not do any mud slinging. He was a church member of the Jr O U A M at Demossville & later transferred to the Falmouth lodge. Members of the organization conducted services at the grave. Mr Hart united with the Pleasant Hill Christian Church in early life, & he & his family were regular attendants. He was kind-hearted, good-natured, & a good neighbor. His home was always open to friends & strangers, & no effort was too much to make them feel at home
