Warren Ebenezer Culpepper was born June 24, 1859 in Decatur County, Georgia to Nancy King and Henry M Culpepper. The family is on the 1860 Decatur County, Georgia census. Warren is the eldest child of 8 known children born to the family.
Siblings include:
Mary Francis, Margaret Anna, John Henry, Howard Percival, Sarah Emma, Lonla Gertrude, and James Elbert.

While working on the Shelfer Tobacco Farm in Gadsden County, Florida, Warren met and married Eula Frances Shelfer. Her name is also spelled Eulalia, Eulalie. The lived in Florida, Georgia, Jackson County, Missippippi and finally in Orange, Texas. While in Mississippi he served as deputy marshall for the City of Scranton. Two sons were born in Scranton. Family history is he lost his job when he accidently shot a man, but newspaper articles have not been located to support that. Two family lines had that same story, so there may be some truth to it. There was however an election and his "boss" the current marshall was not re-elected. Son Byron also did odd jobs for the city of Scranton. Neither Byron nor Warren were found on the payroll after Dec 26, 1902. The family relocated to Orange, Texas in early 1903. Almost immediately Eula fell ill with tuberculosis. It was to claim her life on Oct 11, 1904. Her death certificate said she had been ill about a year and 1/2. Warren was alone with seven children to care for ages 2 to 20. It was a very difficult time. The love of his life is gone, and no family lives nearby.
Sadly on May 13, 1907, Warren too died. Leaving his children alone. Eldest son Charles Byron is 20 and becomes head of the household. His older sister Eva is still at home, but marries in October 1907.

Warren's ancestry dates to before 1658 in Lancaster, Virginia.
The Culpepper Connections web site has this note:
Warren has been proven by DNA and genealogical research to be a descendant of Joseph Culpepper of Edgecombe Co., NC, who is a son of Robert Culpepper of Lower Norfolk, the son of Henry Culpepper of Lower Norfolk, VA.
Henry has been proven by the Culpepper Y-DNA test project to be the progenitor of about 80% of American Culpeppers.

The headstone for Warren's father, Henry M Culpepper has A M Culpepper, 1830-1889. Culpepper Connections states this memorial and marker are his. Therefore I am linking them. Find A Grave Memorial# 70588449. His mother Nancy King Culpepper was last found on the 1880 Decatur County, Georgia census. No burial record has been located.

May you rest in peace great grandpa, Warren Ebenezer Culpepper. Greatly missed, your memory lives on.
