She was born on December 16, 1924 in Upper Sandusky to Lewis and Doris (Kramer) Pool, both of whom are deceased.
Esther married Jack E. Merwine on July 9, 1944 in Brush Ridge, Ohio and he survives.
Surviving are five children, Nancy L. (Douglas) Timm of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Sandi (Michael) Schwilk of Upper Sandusky, Brenda (Daniel) Frost of Upper Sandusky, Pat (Jim) Moore of Delaware, Ohio and Dan (Lisa) Merwine of Carey, Ohio; along with 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; she is also survived by two brothers, Ed (Dorothy) Pool of Upper Sandusky, Roy (Carol) Pool of Englewood, Florida; and three sisters, Mary Louise (Susie) Snyder of Upper Sandusky, Carol (Larry) Bare of Upper Sandusky, and Ethel Bishop of Jackson, Mississippi.
Esther was preceded in death by a grandchild, Dusty Moore; and a brother, Alfred Pool.
Esther was a homemaker and had worked for 15 years retiring in 1981 from the cafeteria at the Whirpool in Marion. She attended the Church of the Nazarene in Upper Sandusky and for hobbies Esther enjoyed quilting, playing board games Scrabble and Upwards, baking, watching "Wheel of Fortune", going to the Wyandot County Fair and spending time with her family.
Funeral services for Esther M. Merwine will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 18, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery, Brush Ridge, Ohio. Visitations will be on Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
