A funeral Mass for Daniel Philip Hertel, 32, of Vallencito, California, formerly of Chilton, who died Thursday, June 4 after a swimming accident, was held Monday June 8 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton.
Born July 24, 1948 at Fond du Lac, he was the son of Arnold and Bernice Keuler Hertel. His marriage to Maria Man Dez took place March 22, 1969 in Chicago.
Mr. Hertel attended St. Mary Catholic School and graduated from Chilton High School in 1966.
After serving in the Air Force from 1967 to 1972, he attended Davis College in Davis, California, graduating in 1975.
Mr. Hertel was a self-employed carpenter

Surviving are his wife; a son, Eric; his parents of Chilton; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Veronica Keuler of Chilton; five sisters, Mrs. Audrey Miller of New Holstein, Mrs. Lynn Hurley of Cottage Grove, Jean Marie Hertel of Green Bay, Mrs. Rose Harris of Nevada City, California and Mrs. Julie Gebhart of Chilton; three brothers, Edward of Davis, California, Herbert of West Ben and Patrick of Chilton.
