Funeral services held for Winifred l. Shaffer
Mrs. Winifred Lois Shaffer died Feb. 11, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. A resident of the Wyoming Pioneer Home she was 89.
Mrs. Shaffer was born Sept, 26, 1889, in Denver to Edward and Ann Kiffin Williams. She married Thomas A. Shaffer in Golden, Colo., in 1904. They ranched on Owl Creek 18 miles west of Thermopolis prior to his death in 1929. She later worked at the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind in the late 1940s and worked in the Casper Children's home in the 1950's. Mrs. Shaffer also was a retired seamstress.
She belonged to the Royal Neighbors of America and Rebekah Lodge, W.L. Kuykendall No. 39.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 14, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Harley Pulis officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Roy A. of Thermopolis and Cecil B. of Fruita, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Viola Ryan of Wheatland and Mrs. Gladys Young of Casper; ten grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband she is preceded in death by a son, Otis; a daughter, Vivian Coleman; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mortimore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
