Dorrence Barber dies, funeral held Tuesday
Dorrence Darnell Barber, 42, died September 1, in Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 4. Bishop William Deromedi of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiated. Burial will be in Monument Hill Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by local VFW Post 2281.
Barber was born September 26, 1936, in Vancouver, Wash. His parents are Lucinda and Cleo Adkinson of Thermopolis.
He attended Thermopolis schools and entered the Army at age 17. He served 21 years and retired at Fort Ord, Calif., in 1975 ad Sgt. 1st Class.
He had recently been in partnership with his brother Lester of Lehi, Utah, and worked as a truck driver.
He was a member of the LDS Church and Masonic Lodge #104 AF & AM of Willmar, Minn.
Besides his parents, Mr. Barber is survived by two sons, Dorrence, Jr., of Gurley, Ala; Ronald of Flint Mich.; two daughters, Yvonne and Claudia Barber of Frankfurt, West Germany; two brothers, George of Ft. Bragg, N.C.; Lester of Lehi, Utah; a stepbrother, Curtis Adkinson of Douglas; a sister, Mrs. Mary Etta Foster of Basin; one stepsister, Mildred Adkinson of Stockton, Calif; and two grandchildren.

His Father is George Irving Barber and Step Father Cleo Adkison.
