Austin worked as a machinist for St. Louis Southwestern Railroad. He retired in 1975 after 30 years of service.
Austin passed away in 1979. She married again after his death.
Margaret lived until 2007. At the time of her death at Alton Memorial Hospital, she was 81 years, 7 months and 11 days old.
She was survived by 1 son and 1 daughter-in-law; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Zelva Bennett of Tamms, Illinois, and Doris Jennings of Edwardsville, Illinois.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother and father; 2 daughters, Sharon Straube and Connie Smith; and 3 sisters, Lois Scarmeos, Stella Mae Stevens and Mary N. Davis.
Visitation was private, as were funeral services.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the Glenview Church of Nazarene in Glen Carbon, Illinois.
Children: 2 daughters, 1 son.
