Zina Wheeler Thees, 96, peacefully passed away September 5, 2004. Zina was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Zina, fondly called G.G. by her family, brought life, love and laughter to those she touched, and was devoted to her family. She met life head-on with simple humility, strong spiritual beliefs, strength, courage and grace.

Zina was the daughter of Joseph E. Wheeler and Harriet I. Bingham, born on a farm in Waterflow, N.M., later moving to Salt Lake City where she met her future husband, Clyde. Following their marriage, they moved to Ganado, Arizona on the Navajo Reservation. Together they owned and operated Round Top Trading Post for over 40 years. In 1976, Zina and Clyde sold the business and retired to Mesa, Arizona. During retirement Zina traveled extensively with her husband visiting family and new places.

Zina is pre-deceased by her husband Clyde, granddaughter, Lee Standifer and son-in-law, Don Maxwell. She leaves behind three daughters, Helen Standifer (Dick), Jan Maxwell and Joyce Weitzel (Alan); five grandchildren, Audrey Brennan (Casey), Carol Moore, Chris Moore (Lisa), Brett Weitzel and Ashley Weitzel; and four great-grandchildren, Stuart Robbins, Nicholas Robbins, Heather Moore and Kristen Moore.

Zina was the center of her family and she will be greatly missed. Services will be Saturday, September 11, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Friendship Village, 2645 E. Southern, Tempe, AZ. Flowers may be sent to the family in care of Friendship Village. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Zina's name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
