John W. Dailey was born in Washington Co., PA in 1787. He married Mary Deviese in 1815 in Grandview Township, Washington County, Ohio.

He and Mary had 10 children: In addition to those linked below were: Phebe (1819-?, possibly 1820) and Isabel, (married Brenizer) (1833-?).

1820 and 1830 census finds him in Ludlow Township, Washington, OH.
1840 and 1850 census finds him in Westfield Township, Delaware and then Morrow Co., OH.

I have death years from 3 reliable sources, 1 says 1856, no place; another says 1873 in West Liberty, Muscatine, IA, the other says 1874 (no place).

1865 Illinois state census has a listing for his son William, in Knox Co., IL, in the household are a male and female age 70+. I suspect this is John and Mary.
Mary died in 1865 and is buried in the Rio Cemetery in Rio, Knox, IL.

Son William then moved to Iowa but in each census, until his death, he is in Lineville, Wayne Co., IL (never Muscatine Co.).

Son Leander is in Muscatine County and a son, Charles, dies and is buried there in 1872. I feel that John would have been buried near his grandson had he died in 1873 or 1874 but have no proof that he is in that cemetery.

A Rootweb listing of burials in this cemetery shows John Wiley Dailey, b. ca 1803 is buried here, Leander (also buried here) is listed as a son. No other information is given, such as death or burial date.
Note: April 2017 a photo volunteer stated that John is not in the current cemetery directory.

If you have any information on the death date/place/burial of John please contact me.
