Graveside services have been held at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Murphy Chapel with the Revs. Harold Anderson, Orin Bidwell and Wayne McMillen officiating. Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born June 21, 1919, in Potlatch, Idaho. He moved to Grants Pass in 1928. He was a graduate of Grants Pass High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. On May 12, 1954, he married the former Gloria B. Knight in Reno. He built and operated the Piper Drive-In on Redwood Highway. He also worked many years as a millworker and boxcar loader.
Ritsch was a Christian for 40 years and a member of Murphy Chapel. He was a member of the Growers' Market. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed Grants Pass High School football.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four daughters, Barbara Jordan of Lake Isabella, Calif., Theresa Gadd of Wrangell, Alaska, Tonya Simpson of Grants Pass and Sandy Moore of Portland; a son, Ron Ritsch of Grants Pass; two brothers, Hank Ritsch of Chico, Calif., and Joe Ritsch of Grants Pass; a sister, Elizabeth Peterson of Portland; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie McIntosh of Grants Pass, in 1995.
