Irene M. Fuller, 83 of Cortland, NY passed away after a courageous battle with a brief illness on Saturday November 17, 2012 at Cortland Regional Medical Center. With great appreciation, the family would like to thank the staff of ICU and especially 2 South for their exceptional care.
Irene was born in Cortland, NY on August 10, 1929 to Frederick Sr. and Bessie (Smith) Walker. She attended Cortland and McGraw Schools, worked 27 years at Homer Schools Food Service, and was a loving homemaker while helping with the family business run by her husband, Charles. Charles and Irene were married August 4, 1950. Irene was a loving caregiver for her husband and daughter in their last days of terminal illness.
She is survived by sisters, Marilyn Martin of Syracuse, Barb Riley of Homer, Dorothy Root of North Carolina, Anna Seamans of Syracuse and Shirley Parker of Mississippi; Her Daughter, Charlene (James) of Scott; Her Son, Charles Jr. (Denise) of Cortland; Her Grandsons, Steven (Taylor) and Eric (Nikkia Hoover); Her Granddaughters, Jennifer Foster and Katherine Irene Fuller; several nieces and nephews and their extended families. Irene also leaves behind her beloved cat, Francie.
Preceding her in death are her father and mother; her husband, Charles; Her daughter, Darlene; son, Danny Lee; brothers, Frederick Jr. (his wife Ada), and George Walker (his Wife Barbara).
In lieu of reception, the family would recommend food donations to the Salvation Army. Or feel free to make monetary donations in her name to a charity of your choice.
Calling hours will be Tuesday November 20, 2012 at 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the funeral services immediately following. Interment will be at Cortland Rural Cemetery.
